Do you get into a mess when applying eyeliner? It is not the easiest of procedures, but if you follow a few tried and tested techniques, you should be able to achieve great results
.
If you apply a thin layer of eyeliner to the lower lid and blend in with a brush, you will create a fine line and a very natural look.
If you have a fuller, round-looking eye, start by making a thicker line in the centre of the upper eyelid with liquid eyeliner, or for more control, a pencil. Next, blend in with a brush to give a smoother line.
With large-looking eyes you only need to line the outer half of the upper and lower eyelid. If you like the dramatic look, then apply a thick line of eyeliner to both the upper and lower eyelids and blend with a brush.
If you have narrow eyes, only apply eyeliner to the upper lid to avoid closing the eyes any further. Use pale colours on the outer parts of the eye to give shape and definition. Using false lashes will help to open up your eyes.
If you have close-set eyes, use pale colours on the inner lid and dark colours on the outer lid. Use a brush to blend from the pale to darker shades and blend the dark shades up and out. Only use eyeliner on the outer part of the eye. Shorten your eyebrows at the nose to create a larger gap between the eyes.
Heavy eyes need pale colours only on the eye socket. False lashes on the corners will lift the eyes and help them to appear more open and wide.
For almond eyes, use a pale shade of eye shadow from lashes to brow. Then apply a medium shade on you eye lid and a darker shade on the outer third of the lid.
The more mature woman should avoid black eyeliner and black mascara as these are both very harsh and aging. Try softer shades of grey or brown to achieve a more flattering and youthful look.
