We all want to look like the glamourous, beautiful women we see in magazines. They are not quite so pefect in real life, its all down to makeup being cleverly applied. have you ever seen the sneaky pictures of these icons caught without makeup, they are just like the rest of us, complete with lines, dark circles, spots and blemishes.
Understanding makeup can help you greatly improve your image, boost your self confidence and make you feel younger and more alive.
Applying foundation is the art of creating the perfect base for the rest of your makeup. Get it right and your skin will appear flawless and natural with a healthy glow.
The main types of Foundation are :-
Liquid Foundation - is the most readily found and suited to most skin types. It is available in various formations, from oil-free, oil-absorbing formulas to moisturising formulas. It creates sheer to medium coverage but use sparingly as too much will look like a mask.
Stick or PanStick Foundation - offers full coverage and is faster to blend than a liquid. Only ever blend with your fingers or it will go streaky. It gives great coverage for imperfections and uneven skin tones. Best avoided if you have reasonably good skin and only require a light coverage.
Cream - To -Powder Foundation - is simple and quick. Applied with a damp sponge it creates a dewy, matt finish that gives full coverage. No additional powder is needed to set it. These formulas are more kind to oily skin as the included powder finish helps cut down on excess shine.
Mousse Foundation - is a cream that has a whipped consistancy. It usually comes in a jar and is lighter and sheerer than a cream. Mousse also appears to sink into the skin rather than sit on the top and and gives a very natural finish. Because mousse is so light makes it an ideal choice for mature skins as it will not collect in fine lines like heavier formulas.
Cream Foundations - are specifically formulated for dry-to-normal skin types. They give the best coverage while still appearing natural. They can be made sheerer by applying with a damp sponge. Also works well as a concealer if your under eye circles are not too bad. Very good for dry skin but avoid if your skin is flaky.
Tinted Moisturiser - provides the lightest coverage and is perfect for you if you don't like the feel of wearing foundation. It is not a tanning product, simply a moisturiser with a little added colour. Like all other foundations it should match your skin tones. Great for the summer months.
