Eyebrows are often overlooked as part of a makeup routine, but they do make an important impression. They give your face a balanced look, so take care to get them right.

First you need to decide where your brows should go. Take a long eye shadow brush or a pencil and hold it straight up resting on your nostril. Where the tip meets the brow is where your brow should start.

Find the end of your brow by holding the brush diagonally into the brow from the corner of your eye. Where the inside edge hits is where your brow should finish.

Next you need to define the arch. Hold the brush or pencil so that the inside edge is on the outside of your iris. Where the pencil meets the eyebrow is the point where the highest part of the brow or arch should be.

The best time to pluck your brows is after a bath so that your pores will still be open from the heat, making the hairs easier to remove.

Brush your brows into place so that you have a natural shape. First remove the hairs from between the brows, remember to pull quickly in the direction of the hair growth. Then weed out the under brow area and any stray hairs at the outer sides. Don’t pluck above the eyebrow or you will distort the shape.

Finally, wipe over the brows with a little witch hazel to sterilise the open follicles.
