Ask any woman which makeup item she would never want to be without, and she will say Mascara With such a large choice available on the market it is often confusing when deciding which to choose. Most of the different types fall into the following catagories.
Lengthening and Curling Mascara - has an applicator brush with dense bristles that enable you to apply more mascara to each of your lashes and especially the tips, making them appear longer.
Thickening or Volumising Mascara - contains a richer formula of waxes and silicone polymers that coat the lashes so that they appear thicker, more volumised.
Waterproof or Non-Smudging Mascara - contains water repellent compounds to prevent smearing around the eyes.
Non-Clumping Mascara - contains ingredients such as silk extract and glycerin to encourage lash seperation. The applicators also have longer wands which will help give a more even application.
Look after your lashes, remember that waterproof mascara needs to be removed using an eye makeup remover on cotton wool or cotton pads. Never be tempted to use tissue or toilet roll as these are too abrasive for the delicate skin around the eye. A little vaseline applied last thing at night will help to keep lashes in good condition.
When applying mascara, stroke down over the top of the lashes from root to tip, then sweep the brush using a zigzag motion underneath the lash starting at the base. Mascara placed at the root gives the illusion of length. When coating the bottom lashes, stroke across the root using a sweeping action with the tip of the brush.
Short brushes give more application control. Apply a light powder under the eyes to prevent concealer and oily cream from attracting the mascara, causing smudging. Always allow mascara to dry completely between coats.
