Powder

Powder provides staying power for your makeup, which will not stay in place without it. Use as the finishing step that helps your skin appear smooth and natural.

Most powder is made from two bases, cornstarch and talcum. It also comes in two forms, loose and pressed

. The finer a powder is milled the higher the quality, so the less likely it is to cake on the skin. Finer milled powders feel more like silk, whereas less-milled powders feel more gritty.

Powder gives a super-smooth sheen to your skin, with or without foundation. If you have a good complexion, brush a light dusting of loose powder over your face to complete a natural, heathy look.

Powder is a must for oily skin, it absorbs the excess oil from your skin and helps prevent shiny patches from appearing. It also helps to conceal open pores.

Loose Powder – gives the best and longest lasting results and is the choice of professional makeup artists. It has more oil absorbers so works best with oily skin. The best application method is to dust it lightly over your skin using a large, good quality, soft powder brush. Then brush again to remove any excess.

Pressed Powder – Comes in compacts, making them easy to carry in your bag. Quick to use and lightweight. Most come with their own application sponges but a better result is obtained by using a brush. It’s worth buying a good brush with a retractable head that will fit in most sized handbags.

One shade does not suit all. Select a shade nearest to your natural colour by testing on your jaw line, the same as you would if choosing foundation.
